USER DEFINED GEOMETRIC FEATURE FOR THE CREATION OF THE FEMORAL NECK ENVELOPING SURFACE

There is a growing demand for application of personalized bone implants (endoprostheses or macro-scaffolds, and fixators) which conform the anatomy patient. Hence need CAD procedure that enables fast sufficiently accurate digital reconstruction traumatized geometry. Research presented in this paper addresses femoral neck fracture. The results point out User-Defined (geometric) Feature (UDF) concept most convenient to use numerous variants same topology, such as kind region. UDF, named FemoNeck, developed demonstrate capability chosen concept. Its geometry, controlled by dozen parameters, can be easily shaped according region specific That should minimally required set geometric (anatomical) captured from X-ray Computed Tomography (CT) images. For statistical analysis geometry UDF development we used CT scans proximal femur 24 Caucasian female male adults. validation proposed method was done applying it remodeling four necks different femurs comparing geometrical congruency between raw polygonal models gained directly scan reconstructed models.
